IRISH
COB STUD BOOK
The Irish Cob Society Ltd (ICS
Ltd) in Ireland is approved to maintain The
Irish Cob Stud Book of the Origin of the Breed.
Although there are other approved
Irish Cob Stud Books outside of Ireland, those
stud books are not connected with each other, or, with the ICS Ltd Irish Cob
Stud Book in Ireland.
There are no such legal terms as
“mother stud-book”
or “daughter stud-book”.
Use of the terms “mother
stud-book” and “daughter stud-book”, gives the
wrong impression that the ICS Ltd Irish Cob Stud
Book of the Origin of the Breed is somehow
integrally linked (connected with) other
approved Irish Cob Stud Books.
THIS IS NOT THE CASE
However, in order to provide for
breeders /owners,
the EC has laid down rules in CD
96/78/EC.
Article 1 (first indent)
“To qualify for entry in the main
section of the stud-book of it’s breed
registered equidae must:
-
Be descended from parents entered
in the main section
OF A STUD-BOOK of that same breed and
have pedigree established in accordance with the
rules of that stud book”
Article 2
“1. THE MAIN SECTION of a
stud-book may be divided in conformity with No 3
(b), fifth indent, of the Annex of Commission
Decision 92/353/EEC laying down the criteria for
approval or recognition of organizations and
associations which maintain or establish
stud-books for registered equidae into several
classes according to the animals’ merits.
Only animals
meeting the criteria laid down in Article 1
(See above) may be entered in one of those
classes.
2.
Where a stud-book contains several classes in
the main section, an animal from another
stud-book shall be entered in the class of the
stud-book whose criteria it meets.
- CD 96/78/EC entitles to
breeders / owners to register their FULL
PEDIGREE Irish Cobs into any Irish Cob Stud
Book.
- CD 96/78/EC does not entitle
breeders / owners to register
“Supplementary Irish Cobs”, which are registered in one Irish Cob Stud
Book, to be registered into the Supplementary
Section of any other Irish Cob Stud Book.
“Supplementary Irish Cobs” may be
entered from the Supplementary Section of one
Irish Cob Stud Book into the Supplementary
Section of another Irish Cob Stud Book
in accordance with the stud-book
rules of the approved organizations.
All
animals are eligible for registration into the
ICS Ltd
Irish Cob Stud Book, where they were registered
into
the MAIN or SUPPLEMENTARY SECTION of any other
Irish Cob Stud Book in accordance with CD
96/78/EC.

THE ABOVE INFORMATION WILL ALSO
