NAME OF
SOCIETY
The ICS wishes to make it very clear to
everyone, that The Irish Cob
Society Limited
IS NOT called - Irish Cob Society Ireland.
The name of the Society has been
legally registered in Ireland from February 2002
as
The Irish Cob Society Limited (with a capital
T on The).
The Irish
Cob Society carries
Limited at the end of it's title
to advise it's members that they are
legally protected, by having limited liability.
The Irish
Cob Society (ICS) was established in 1996
and from February 2002, when the ICS
(in accordance with the Annex to DC 92/353/EEC)
also incorporated as a Company Limited by
Guarantee and not having a share Capital,
the ICS has been able to provide limited
liability to all it's members.
From 1996, The ICS has also continued to use
it's name
The Irish
Cob Society (ICS)
when not endorsing legal documentation.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
As a company Limited by Guarantee and not
having a share capital,
the Irish Cob Society Limited (ICS) is a
fully democratic organization.
Under Company Law, the business of the ICS
must be managed by the Directors.
A Board of Directors is elected at the AGM
of the Society, BY THE MEMBERS,
who also decide the number of Directors
allowed on the ICS Board of Directors.
Any legal compliancy matters - including
the establishment, maintenance and issuing of any ICS legal
documentation,
(which would include inter alia, the
establishment and maintenance of a recognized EU Stud Book and
issuing of equine identity documents - when the ICS would be
re-approved) are the responsibility of the ICS Board of
Directors.

COMMITTEES
Under ICS Company Law, Committees MUST be
comprised of Directors.
ICS Committees look after any
ICS Company Law compliancy matters
and any other legal matters
associated with the ICS.
ICS
SUB-COMMITTEES
The ICS Bye-Laws, allow for ICS
Sub-Committees to be formed.
ICS Sub-Committees may be comprised of
ordinary members of the ICS.
ICS Sub-Committees carry out any works for the ICS,
which are not associated with legal
compliancy matters.
