ICS LTD INSPECTION IN
GERMANY ON 2ND MAY 2009
On 2nd May 2009 the ICS Ltd held it's
first ever ICS Ltd Stud Book
registration inspection
in Germany.
The ICS Ltd stallion inspection was run in conjunction with
a
Tinker
Horse and Irish Cob Society in Germany e.V. (THAICS e.V.)
stallion show.
THAICS e.V. is
affiliated to the ICS Ltd in Ireland and is approved
by the ICS Ltd to represent the ICS Ltd
Irish Cob Stud Book
& the ICS Ltd Irish Cob Part Bred Stud in
Germany.
THAICS e.V. is very active in working to
train ICS Ltd inspectors
in Germany to acquire the skills
necessary to ensure that only animals which are of the Irish
Cob type in Germany, enter the Supplementary Section of the
ICS Ltd Irish Cob Stud Book in Ireland.
The work put in by the ICS Ltd Grade 2
trainee inspectors from
February 2009 was evident, when all the
trainees were awarded
a one year provisional ICS Ltd Grade
2 inspector licence
following an exam which was carried
out on 2nd May 2009.
Even though the original, most typical
colour, of the Irish Cob
breed would have been black & white,
or black - usually with white leg markings and a blaze and
even white belly markings
(referred to as splashed or
blagdon), a greater variety of coat colours
are now more commonly seen in the
Irish Cob breed.
With their long flowing manes, tails and leg feathering,
together with the wide range of
colours (including white body markings) an Irish Cob show
class is a feast for the eyes and the THAICS e.V. stallion
show on 2nd May 2009 certainly lived up to my expectations.
On 2nd May 2009 in Germany, in the
beautiful Bavarian Woods,
The ICS Ltd registered
many fine Irish Cob stallions into the
ICS Ltd Irish Cobs Stud Book in
Ireland.
The ICS Ltd plans to hold it's annual
international conference in September 2009 and on the the
topics for discussion will be the possibility of
establishing an
International Irish Cob Breeding Programme, which would
include the use of semen, ova and embryos in compliance with
EU requirements in relation to Zootechnical and Genealogical
conditions. Report by
