ABOUT
THE IRISH
COB SOCIETY (ICS)
STUD BOOK MEMBERS
As the Irish Cob Society
(ICS) is now promoted as a breeding organization
and no as The Irish Cob Society Ltd (a "members club"
offering limited liability to members), anyone who
registers an Irish Cob or Irish Cob Part Bred in an ICS Stud
Book in Ireland from 1st January 2008 automatically becomes made an ICS Stud Book
Member. ICS Stud Book members
ARE NOT members of the
ICS aquired legal personality (the limited liability company - Ltd)
which means that ICS Stud Book members cannot be held liable
should the aquired legal personality (the limited company -
Ltd) be wound up for any reason. This is veiwed as the
ultimate protection offered to ICS Stud Book breeders.
ICS Stud Book members can train to become ICS inspectors and
judges and can establish ICS Stud Book committees for the
purpose of arranging for shows and events to be held for
Irish Cobs and Irish Cob Part Breds. ICS has
planned to hold an annual seminar for ICS Stud Book members
and those interested in becoming ICS Stud Book members which
will be a valuable opportuninty for breeders to meet up,
learn more about their breed, have "a say", give ideas and
form ICS event committees etc.
ABOUT
THE IRISH COB SOCIETY (ICS)
The Irish Cob Society
(ICS) was established and approved as a breeding
organization in Ireland in 1998, to
maintain the Stud Book of the Origin of the Breed for Irish
Cobs.
ICS
DECISION TO DROP LIMITED (LTD) FROM GENERAL USE
Because from 2002 the Irish Cob Society
offered "open membership" the Irish Cob Society
(ICS) chose to
acquire a legal
personality which would protect it's members by ensuring
them
LIMITED LIABILITY (Ltd - limited risk).
The name the Irish Cob Society, with Limited (Ltd) added,
was promoted by ICS to show members and potential members
that they would be protected (had limited liability of £1)
should the company be wound up for any reason.
From 1st January 2008 the
Irish Cob Society (ICS) decided that the Irish Cob Society
would no longer offer membership of
the aquired legal personality (the limited
company - Ltd), on an "open"
basis and that the Irish Cob Society (ICS) would no longer
be promote as a "member
club", but once again as the breeding organization
THE IRISH COB SOCIETY (ICS) originally
established and approved in 1998 in Ireland to maintain the
Stud Book of the Origin of the Breed for Irish Cobs.
That being the case, ICS decided (in accordance with company
law) that membership of the
aquired legal personality (the limited company - Ltd)
would no longer be on an "open" basis and that
the Directors would in future decide who could be members. The Irish Cob Society (ICS) decided that it
would no longer be called (referred to as), or use it's
aquired legal personality
title The Irish Cob Society Ltd
(ICS Ltd) except in areas concerning legal matters.
THE
FOLLOWING ICS DECISION WERE MADE
RE: THE IRISH
COB SOCIETY LTD (THE ACQUIRED LEGAL PERSONALITY - WITH LTD
ADDED)
1. That the Irish Cob
Society Ltd (ICS Ltd) will only be used in areas concerning
legal matters.
2. That the name
The Irish Cob Society which
is registered as a limited liability company
in Ireland since 2002 will be defended by ICS from unauthorized use.
RE: THE
IRISH COB SOCIETY (THE BREEDING ORGANIZATION)
That the Irish Cob Society
will no longer be promoted as having acquired legal
personality offering limited liability to members (as a
"members club"), but will revert to promoting the
organization as The Irish Cob Society (ICS), the breeding
organization which was originally established and approved
in Ireland in 1998, for the purpose of maintaining the Stud
Book of the Origin of the Breed for Irish Cobs - through the
following means:-
1. FORMS - By removing
Limited (Ltd) from the heading of all ICS forms (including
application and inspection forms etc).
2. PASSPORTS - By
continuing to print The Irish Cob
Society clearly on the cover of
every passport issued, as has always been done by ICS in the
case of every passport issued by ICS.
3. LOGO - By continuing to
use The Irish Cob Society Logo which has been exposed to the
public by ICS from 2000.
4. STAMP - By continuing to use The Irish Cob Society stamp,
as used by ICS from 2000, which contains the words
The Irish Cob
Society, Dublin, Ireland.
5. WEBSITE -
By removing Limited (Ltd) from name
of the site, which means that The Irish Cob Society
is no longer promoted as a "member club" with limited
liability for members. By removing Limited (Ltd)
from the name of the website, The Irish Cob Society is once
again promoted as, the breeding organization which was first
approved in Ireland 1998, to maintain the Stud Book of the
Origin of the Breed for the Irish Cob.
The name of the website
www.irishcobsociety.com has always clearly shown from
2000 the organization which is:-
THE IRISH COB SOCIETY
